Plants along the shoreline

Sand Dune Plants

Anna Maria Island, also referred to as Anna Maria Key, is a barrier island located along the Florida gulf coast. Anna Maria Island (AMI) features several beautiful beaches with a rich history in the fishing community. Prior to the arrival of European explorers in the mid-1500s, Anna Maria Island served as part of an archaeological culture practiced by Native Americans along the gulf coast. As such, Anna Maria Island is rich with burial and temple mount artifacts. Today, AMI is known for its white sand beaches, plentiful fishing piers, and the embodiment of Old Florida charm.

I hope you will enjoy this collection of images taken along Cortez and Coquina Beaches on Anna Maria Island.
