The KSC Rocket Garden at Sunset
The most magical place in Orlando.
When most people think of Orlando they're brought to childhood memories of Disney World or Universal Studios. When I think of Orlando, I can only think of one place - the incredible Kennedy Space Center (KSC). My first visit to KSC was in the summer of 2015, and I was enchanted. From the rockets to the interactive displays and museums to the informative bus tour, there was too much for me to take in.
Whenever we visit my husband's east coast Florida family I aim to visit the space center but somehow, it took us seven years to return. When we decided to visit family just after Christmas of 2022 we originally intended to fly from St. Louis to Atlanta to drive along the east coast through Cape Canaveral, and then continue south to Fort Lauderdale. However, after our outbound flight was canceled (read more about the Southwest Airlines 2022 fiasco) we opted to make the long 18-hour drive rather than cancel our plans. The longer transit meant I had a very small window to visit KSC. I pouted, got over it, and we hit the road.
We arrived just a few hours before the complex closed for the day. With such a short amount of time at KSC, we were mostly limited to the rocket garden and a few other outdoor areas. Nevertheless, any time spent at Kennedy Space Center is time well spent.
I hope you will enjoy seeing the space complex in the brilliant colors of Florida's winter sunset.
